My pet: Dalmatian dog
by Daniela Cauchi
Introduction:
My mum asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I told her that I wanted a cat or a dog. My mum granted my wish and she bought me a puppy. She bought me a Dalmatian dog and I named it Fluffy. It’s all white with black big spots. Fluffy likes playing with a ball, especially when it is softball. It has a small kennel all for itself. Fluffy is now 3 years old.
The Dalmatian is best known from the Disney animated film 101 Dalmatians (1961). Dalmatians are thought to have been developed as carriage dogs in the Croatian Region of Dalmatia. A Dalmatian has a long; flat head with long muzzle and highest ears. Its powerful body is set on strong legs and the tail is long and tapered. The height of a Dalmatian dog is 58cm at the shoulder. Dogs developed from the tree-dwelling micas, which lived 40 million years ago, from intermediate forms to tomarctus, which lived 15 million years ago. The tail of a Dalmatian is 4 – 21 inches long.
