English Cocker Spaniel
by Elysia Aquilina
I have a dog and it’s an English Cocker Spaniel. Its race originated in Japan and later in England. The one known as King Charles Spaniel is black and tan. Today we find black and tan, ruby and tricoloured Cocker Spaniels. The English Cocker Spaniel weighs between 10 and 13 kg and stands only about 35 cm tall at shoulder. It has a rounded skull, long wide ears and a docked tail carried in line with the back. Cocker Spaniels are eager hunting dogs. It is one of the most intelligent dogs. The dog is noted for its speed. It’s popular in Wales and in the West of England. It has a muscular body. Police use them to find drugs too. The most popular sickness that English Cocker Spaniels have is epilepsy that is like a fit that passes after five minutes. To cure this sickness you have to put the dog in a dull room without any loud noises and in warm temperature. These dogs like to play with children. Most Cocker Spaniels prefer junks mixed with dry food. They have to go for a walk at least once a day. They have to be trimmed to live in our hot climate. Most of them are afraid of the sound of the hair dryer and the vacuum cleaner. They love to be spoiled. If you take good care of them, they will love you just the way you love them.
